Easy Greek Chicken Meatballs

This is one of my go-to meatball recipes for when I am craving a protein packed meal with twist. These greek meatballs are loaded with spices and feta cheese and are a fun twist on traditional meatballs.

Ingredients included in greek meatballs

  • Ground chicken
  • Egg
  • Feta cheese
  • Dried spices: oregano, basil, onion powder, garlic powder, dill, parsley, salt and pepper.
  • Orzo pasta
  • Lemons
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Parmesan cheese, optional

Cooking items needed for this meatball recipe

For this recipe you need two large bowls and one large pan or skillet, along with a few items below.

  • 2 large mixing bowls:You’ll use the mixing bowls to mix together the ingredients for the meatballs and orzo.
  • 1 large pan or skillet:Once you form your meatballs, you’ll use a pan to cook them.
  • Tongs:While the meatballs are cooking, you’ll use tongs to flip them so they brown on all sides.
  • Plate or bowl for serving:Lastly, you’ll want to use a plate or bowl to serve the meatballs and orzo.

In addition, you’ll also need your basic measuring ingredients like measuring cups and measuring spoons. You’ll need: 1 cup, 1/2 cup,1/4 cup,1 tablespoon, 1 teaspoon,1/2 teaspoon and 1/4 teaspoon.

Ingredients

Greek Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 egg large
  • ½ cup feta crumbled, chopped small
  • 1.5 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp of each: basil, onion powder, garlic powder, dill, parsley
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Lemon Orzo

  • 1 cup dried orzo cook orzo according to the package
  • 1 lemon zested
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter melted
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese optional, grated or shredded
  • ½ tsp of each: oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper
  • ¼ tsp dill

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, add all your meatball ingredients. Mix with your hands just until combined. Form the mixture into 15 meatballs.

  • In a large pan over medium heat, add 1 tbsp olive oil or spray it with cooking spray. Add your meatballs, make sure they have enough room to cook and brown evenly. Use tongs to continuously flip the meatballs until they are fully browned. About 5-6 minutes.

  • Add a lid and cook the meatballs for another 5-6 minutes until fully cooked through. The internal temperature of the meatball should reach 165 degrees. Do not over cook as this will dry out the meatballs! Remove from heat and set aside while you assemble the lemon orzo.

  • In a large bowl, add all the lemon orzo ingredients: cooked orzo, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, olive oil OR butter, parmesan cheese, and seasonings. Mix until fully combined.

  • Serve the cooked meatballs over the warm lemon orzo and enjoy!
